Is Christmas @ Indigo cancelled due to Covid?????
It certainly is not! Like everything else about 2020 and as with every other event this year, #teamindigo have come together to make Christmas just as special this year for our children and families.
We kicked off the festive season by decorating our playrooms as we always do with our Christmas trees, decorations, etc. This year we decided to go all out and launched our #indigoswindaewonderland which saw our very talented team paint and decorate all of the windows! We have Santa, Rudolph, beautiful Christmas scenes and The Snowman even makes an appearance on our 2-3 room windows. We hope that people all over Glasgow will follow our lead and decorate their windows at home or at work giving our children something spectacular to look at whilst out and about this Christmas.
Santa very kindly offered to do a virtual visit to our services and spoke to each child via Zoom. This was the most amazing experience and to be honest, for some of our children it was much less scary having him on the screen instead of in their playroom which we know can be quite overwhelming for them! Our children were delighted to hear that each and every one of them has made it onto Santa’s nice list – how amazing is that!!!
With Santa’s grottos being closed this year, we decided to bring the grotto to Castlemilk and with the help of #teamindigo’s elves, we transformed our outdoor shed into the most magical Santa’s grotto. Our children and families have the opportunity to visit the grotto (don’t forget to social distance) and take some photos The main man himself even asked us to look after his suit until Christmas Eve although he hopes to make an appearance a couple of times throughout December to meet some of our children when they visit the grotto. And………………….shhhhh don’t tell anyone because it’s a surprise but on Tuesday 22nd December before our children finish up for the holidays, we will be getting all cosy and going outdoors and SANTA will be visiting the service with a present for each and every one of our children who are of course ALL on the nice list!!! This will be followed by music, dancing, party food and FUN FUN FUN!!!
As well as all of that, we have had a festive fun packed December for everyone to enjoy. We had our annual ‘Christmas Jumper Week’ where children and staff wore their favourite Christmas outfits, headgear, jumpers. This definitely helped us get into the Christmas spirit! We enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch, took part in so many exciting learning experiences and had competitions galore. Our Christmas Enterprise took a different approach this year and we set up our online Christmas Shop where families could purchase personalised items such as baubles, calendars and also pick up their essentials such as Santa’s key, reindeer dust and Reindeer hot chocolate.
Whilst we have been having so much fun, we also remember that 2020 has been tough for everyone and for some more than others. For that reason, some of our families were randomly selected to receive a Christmas Hamper containing everything they need for a tasty Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and items to stock up their cupboards for over the festive period. Enjoy!!
On behalf of all at #teamindigo I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to more exciting times and seeing what 2021 brings for us. #allinthistogether
